Semi-quasi-almost-but-not-quite First Day of Homeschooling

So I planned to start homeschooling on Monday, but ended up doing it (sort of) today, because Raia begged for "Mommy and Raia School".

We did one Math U See lesson covering place values ("tens" and "units" i.e. "ones"), read some BOB books, and watched a DVD about dinosaurs. This was interspersed with some tent making (to watch the movie in), drawing pictures, and general goofing off. Nothing formal, didn't sit down at the table, didn't write anything on pieces of paper, no gold stars or red ink marks or grades, just played with the Math U See blocks and "built" numbers using tens and units, learned a little about dinosaurs, and put her existing reading skills to use.

We're gradually easing into this...
