Trick or Treat!

Another Halloween is come and gone. :( It is one of my favorite holidays! Second only to Christmas. This year Raia was a witch, Errol was Winnie the Pooh (for the third straight year. he *just* fit into the costume. I was shocked, because I'd bought him a James costume but he refused to wear it! My little Thomas the Train addict!) and Patrick was an adorable little pumpkin. :)

They got to wear their costumes on 3 different occasions: the hospital staff kids' Halloween party last Saturday, our ward Trunk or Treat the Friday before Halloween, and then on the Big Day itself.

Needless to say, we are rolling in the candy.

And most of it is chocolate! They got maybe a handful of fruity candy (mostly Skittles, some Sour Patch, and mini-suckers) and the rest is all Snickers and 3 Musketeers and MilkyWay and Butterfingers and PeanutButter Cups. When *I* was a kid we were lucky if we got two or three PeanutButter Cups, and a genuine Hershey bar was to be covetted! (And we had to walk 5 miles uphill just to get to the chocolate! Both ways!) I don't even know what to do with it all. It may all have to disappear in a week or so. :op

The kids had fun. Patrick got to go door-to-door with the big kids this time, and he loved it. He didn't say "Trick or Treat", but if we dared to try and keep him behind when big brother and sister went up to a house, he let us know his displeasure! He got good at taking the candy from the adults and placing it neatly into his little bucket (which had to be emptied into the basket of the stroller at least once during the night.) He wasn't scared by the jack o lanterns or the people who answered the door dressed as zombies. He actually stared for the longest time at a guy who answered his door in hospital scrubs and a skull mask. Looked him straight in the eye without even blinking, and craned his neck around to keep looking when I tried to move him away to make way for other trick-or-treaters. My brave little dude. :)

And now it's November. No Thanksgiving plans yet. Hopefully we'll get to do something fun. :)
