No more school bus drama!

Last week our bus routine for Errol went something like this:

Day 1: Excited to see the bus, excited to get on, MELT DOWN when mom didn't get on with him. Drove him to school myself.

Day 2: Melt down the minute the bus pulled up. Got him into a 5-point harness. Kicking and screaming the whole way to school.

Day 3: Melt down again when the bus pulled up. Again into the 5-point harness. Bus driver said he cried for about half of the trip.

Day 4: Melt down. Calmed down a little bit when he got on the bus when I told him he was going to see his teacher. "Go see Teacher ****?" "Yup!" Seemed a little calm and possibly upbeat about it, even waved goodbye, then sudden had a change of heart and went back into meltdown mode.

Today when the bus pulled up Errol said "Yay! Bus!" put on his backpack, ran out the door, ran onto the bus (without me having to follow on behind him!) sat down and let the bus driver buckle him up, then happily waved goodbye through the window, with a smile on his face!

FINALLY!

  1. Hmmm. My kids are so happy to be away from me all day they would go with the Grim Reaper if he promised chicken nuggets! It must be a testament of what a great mom you are that he had such a rough time the first few days, either that or it's like the "cry it out" method of sleep training. You should write a parenting book and make millions off of "bus training"!
