Kids grow up too fast. :(
Yesturday was Raia's first day of Kindergarten. Today was Errol's first day of pre-school.
Raia had a wonderful first day of school. She went with her class with no problems at all, and enjoyed having music time as the first order of the day. It was a very happy little girl that I picked up at the end of school. Her old pre-school teacher and her assistant were there for part of the day, to help her "transition" (which she really didn't need) and Raia was SO excited to show her her new hair cut, and tell her about how her brother was going to be in her (the teacher's) class the next day.
Errol's first day didn't go quiet as smoothly. I'd thought he'd be excited about riding the bus to school, since he'd always seemed so jealous of Raia getting to ride it when she went to the same pre-school. When it pulled up he excitedly put on his Thomas backpack and ran out the door and climbed on. Then he saw that I wasn't getting on too.
I ended up driving him to his first day. And also driving him back, when he threw a fit at being put on the bus. He knows how to undo lap-belts, so they couldn't just let him have his tantrum while they drove him home. His teacher said the bus driver will have a 5-point harness ready for him to sit in tomorrow, so *knock on wood* that works. Poor Patrick had both attempts at a nap interrupted by having to drive Errol to school and back.
Other than the bus situation his teacher says Errol had a wonderful first day. He followed instructions and participated in the activities. Hopefully after a week or so he'll adjust to this new reality and not flip out whenever he sees a yellow school bus.
Patrick was "homeschooled" and learned how to suck his thumb. ;)
