What a difference a month makes!!!

Last month, after a year-long search, George finally got offered a job that would hav emoved us significantly closer to family, and after a lot of prayer and advice-seeking, we felt strongly that we had to turn it down.

It was HARD. It felt like closing the door on a dream, since the pay they were offering, as the highest-paying company for his career fiend in the area, let us know that a move there was likely never to be feasible, at least not for the time being. But at the same time, every time we prayed about it we felt the Lord was wanting us to wait, and that there was something better for us around the corner. I said a prayer as soon as George got off the phone with the company to turn down their offer, and asked the Lord if He might make that "something better" known fairly quick. (I'm notoriously impatient).

9 days later we got a phone call. It was from a company that George had applied with a few moths back that he had he really had *no* chance of gettin ginto, as they have a strong reputation in his industry of hiring mainly from within OR hiring people from the outside who have strong connections with people already "inside", but once you get in it's a *great* company to work for. After 2 phone interviews and 1 in-person interview (that we had to wait *2 weeks* for, and what a long two weeks!) they offered him the job!!!

To say this job is light years ahead of the job we had to turn down would be an understatement. The pay is $15 an hour more than the previous job (although still a cut from his current pay. obviously not as drastic a cut though ;) ). The opportunities for advancement and furthering his skills are abundant. The benefits are awesome and a step up from what we currently have. AND, best of all, this job moves us closer to BOTH our families, instead of just George's! 2.5 hours from mine, and 8 hours from his. A vast improvement from the 12 and 14 hour drives we currently have to make! AND there's a very inexpensive Amtrak line that goes in both directions (which has Errol very excited)

It will still mean a physical separation from George while we wait for our house here to sell, which will be hard. And yesterday we had to shell out some money for a second car, but I've been begging George for one of those for ages anyway. ;)

Shortly after George was offered the job his current employer announced some changes that will be happening that would have hit us financially. As it looks, when you calculate the benefits and such, even with him technically making less an hour at the new job, we'll actually be bringing home about the same. AND we'll be moving to an area with a much cheaper cost of living, and some gorgeous scenery!

I'm just so excited!!!
