But that spider sure is... *shudder*
Last night, while digging under Patrick's crib to find a blanket to swaddle him in that wouldn't be too warm (yes, at 5 months he's still swaddled) my hand came to within inches of the biggest spider I have ever seen inside my house! Seriously, the thing had to have been at least two inches long! It was big, and black, and gave me the worst case of the heebie-geebies!
I booked it out of there and went into our bedroom and told George, who was lying on the bed: "I need a thick, heavy book, right now!" Then, thinking for a second I said "No, wait, YOU need a thick, heavy book, right now!"
He went into Patrick's room and killed the spider, then picked it up with some toilet paper and put it outside in the trash, looking at it as he did so.
Now, believe it or not, but spiders don't typically bother me. Daddy-long-legs are kind of humours looking, and the little itty-bitty tiny ones I find fairly often around my house are too small to consider to be any sort of serious threat. I even have a few childhood memories of watching a black-widow on our kitchen window (the OUTSIDE of the window, to be sure) catching a fly in it's web and wrapping it up to eat later. It was fascinating!
But a big, black spider...
Under my infant son's bed...
Nuh uh.
You go *squish* now.

Egh. I am also not really afraid of spiders...except maybe the big ones and anything resembling a Brown Recluse. Remind me never to get under Kade's crib...ever. Glad George saved the day, Chad is too busy these days to do anything chivalrous. (Sigh) I'll just have to kill my own spiders!
