Today Raia had a Kindergarten pre-view class. It was supposed to have been last Monday, but we got a call that morning saying the letter they'd sent us saying it was on the 11th was incorrect, and that the 18th was the correct date for the class. Unfortunately Raia already knew that she was supposed to go to "new school" that day. She was heartbroken. She didn't have preschool that day either, so it was a rather empty day.
And now that I've typed that I realize that I forgot to take her to preschool today!!! I'd gotten "New school/no pre-school" so inter-connected in my head from last week, that I forgot that she could have gone to both classes today! And that means the bus came by while we were gone too, since I obviously didn't call to tell them not to come by. I'm all sorts of embarassed right now. And sad for Raia, even though she's completely ignorant of my little oversight. She LOVES pre-school and I'm always sad when she has to miss a day. She's running around outside in her swimsuit now, running through the sprinklers, or else I'd pack every one up and take her to school right now. This is going to bug me for a while now.
And as if enough didn't go wrong today. When I dropped her off for the class I ended up locking my keys in the car. And since I hadn't been able to find my keys this morning when it was time to drive George to work, I had both mine AND George's keys. Mine were in the car, his were at the house. I called him from the school, then walked home (with Patrick in his sling and Errol in a stroller) while he got a company car to drive home to help me break through a window I'd miraculously forgotten to close (it's been really warm here the past few days). Because it was a rather high window George lifted Errol into it once he got the screen popped off (it's high off the ground outside, but only a couple feet above the floor inside) and Errol, bless his little two year old heart, knows how to unlock doors. Then I had to walk back to Raia's school, and got there just as the kinder class was getting out.
My ankle is so happy with me. It was just starting to feel "normal" again too.
It's Monday.

Have you ever seen the Garfield cartoon where he is trying to avoid going through a "Monday" so he ends up shipping himself to some island, only to find out that the time there is behind and he has to live Monday all over again? Sounds like you had a Garfield Monday!
